Most of the shadows of this life are caused by our standing in our own sunshine.

Is sushi healthy?

How healthy is sushi? If I'm working out once a day and consciously eating only healthy foods, does sushi fit on that diet as a good lunch? I'm trying to lose some weight before a wedding.

Sushi is not the answer , to your weight loss.  You have a wonderful man who loves you for you not for the sake of fitting in a dress for one day!  You are going on a adventure for the rest of your lives.  Don't stress your self. be happy, love your self.

Always look your best because you never know who you're going to meet.

Sushi is a very healthy meal made mostly with rice, fish and vegetables. Sushi should always be made with fresh ingredients. Not only for the safety of the eater but for the flavors. The delicate flavors of rice, vegetables and fish are enhanced with healthy soya sauce, ginger and wasabi.

The fish itself is healthy, but white rice is something you want to avoid if trying to loose weight.  Try it without the rice, or perhaps with brown rice.

sushi is not meant to be a meal, it's more of a snack. here in the islands you can go into any 7-11 or small store and find different sushi rolls, vegie, sea food, the bulk of it is white rice which you really don't need to be eating and what's in the middle is hardly what I'd call enough food for lunch or dinner or healthy

Sushi in moderation is fine, make a healthy choice in choosing the kind you eat. Keeping your drink of choice for lunch water as well. Perhaps, the raw tuna or shrimp w/ lettuce and cucumber.  Avoid too much sauce such as the soy sauce or the sauce they use for the spicy tuna roll.  Don't restrict yourself from things that you want, if you have had a great workout, it's ok to treat yourself to sushi, in a portion that isn't too large.

If your goal is weightloss, hopefully with the main motivation of having a healthy weight, then this is what I would suggest to you:

Avoid anything fried from your sushi-place. Say goodbye to tempura.

Eat seewead salad as an appetizer. It will fill you up and supply you with great nutrients. Those salads with a little slice of cucumber and tomatoe really don't cut it.

About your sushi rolls:  ask for brown rice only, so you feel more filled up, and it is just as tasty if not tastier than white rice.

Sashimi is probably your best bet, since the fish/carb ratio is a bit more favorable than with the rolls.

Make sure that if you get rolls with rice (pls make sure it is brown rice) then pick a place that doesn't put a huge amount of rice in the rolls. If they do it, go to another place. If you have no choice, then ask them to lower the amt of rice used per roll.

Good luck!!!
