If you have any knowledge of how a CCTV security system works then you can build your own for far less the you can have one put in for. I am running a P4 2.8 GB processor with a ATI Radion all in wonder video card with 2 GB of memory with a 300GB hard drive. Also you will need whats called a VPon Card and Chip. The VPon card is a PCI interface that is where the cameras hook to. The chip that comes with the VPon card is lynix based os and it goes into the ribbon of the slave to your DVD burner. This chip is made to load all Drivers needed for the system. It is far cheaper to build your own security systen then it is to have one installed. Upon compleation of the CCTV system you will have to have an internet connection. You will give your CCTV system a Name and Password. You will also give it a Static IP address. Once this is compleated you will need to reboot the system and will be up and running. There are many features with this type of system instead of the tridional DVR set up. I can log into my system where ever I want to, from any computer as long as you know the IP address and the user name and password. As far as the cameras go there are many types on the market.
