I fully agree with Sharleen - as i travel I lot i experienced the negative effects of alcohol or not enough sleep. So yes, lots of water and try to avoid alcohol - i even skip meals or parts of meals during the flight to stay in a kind of sleep mode. And if it is a long flight - take an aisle seat as you want to step out and stretch. On short (night) flights I take a window seat and try not to eat at all
