How to stop saying the word "like"??

Young people today seem to say "like" in the spaces between almost every other word. What is the best way to train oneself to stop saying the word "like" so often?

I think one reason people do this is because they are afraid of the silence. If you need a second to think, don't panic about the silence. Think what you want to say and say it. Don't feel the need to fill in the silence with meaningless words. You can practice by yourself. Just ask yourself a question  (What did you do Easter Sunday?) and answer yourself outloud. The silence is not as long as you think it is so don't panic. Just take a deep breath and answer the question.
