I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.

Planning – know who your target audience is.

Content development - define your site’s structure.

Graphic design – create a good impression.

Marketing and promotion

Azterik Media The web starts here.

The best way to guarantee a great website is to ensure that you are designing it for your users, NOT the search engines. Keep good clean lines and make sure your site flows well, nothing frustrates users faster than having to "hunt" through your site to find the information they are looking for. If the website you're looking to build is for a business you might want to consider hiring a professional web development company, even if it is only to do a consult.

"Most people see things as they are, and ask, 'why'? But I think of things that never were, and ask, 'why not'?" -- George Bernard Shaw.

Well, first of all, let me say I have NO knowledge of website designing whatsoever...but want to learn how to do so very badly!   From where I sit, though, I would say it should have EASILY READABLE AND ACCESSABLE LINKS, A PLEASANT COLOUR COMBINATION, (Not more than 4 complimentary colours), LARGE PRINT for all reading matter, (and/or an enlarging mechanism for text), and a LIMITED amount of animation, (animation can be fun, but too much of it will overwhelm the viewer.)  "Sprinkle" the animation all through your site -- it shoudn't all be on the first page!  And, of course, INTERACTIVITY is important on any website -- the viewer being able to make decisions and see them "come to life", is much of the fun of visiting different websites!

There are many factors to be considered in developing a best website.  One is that it must be visitor friendly and it has accurate and updated content.
