Do High top basketball shoes prevent ankle spraining ? Will wearing them reduce the risk?
It will definitely reduce the risk for spraining an ankle because of the high heel support. Other options I know of include double socks or specially made bands for heel support.
Hi there,
Yes, hight shoes help prevent ankkle injuries, so do the bands and taping. But to be honest, if you fall really badly, even skiing shoes won't help.

According the the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society:
Contrary to common belief, however, high-top shoes offer no advantages in terms of foot or ankle support over their low-cut counterparts.
