If you look at the major leading sports played by males in the USA, they are in the main) sports that are played using the hands. EG American football, Baseball, Basketball, Boxing. I think the concept of having a male participation sport, played on a field/pitch, that mainly involves the use of the feet as oppose to the hands is a concept that still looks alien/strange to the US sporting public and as a consequence, still have difficulty getting their heads around. As well as that, the major US media networks are much more likely to show what brings in the highest viewing figures for their sponsors/advertisers. Soccer/Football at the moment simply dosent attract the high viewing figures as the more traditional main US sports. If the womens US teams continues to do well in the international arena and soccer/football continues to increases its popularity in the schools/Colleges/universities amounst the up and coming younger generatons, then you may start to see soccer starting to make a significant impact in the US sporting market. I say give it another 25-30yrs then see where its at. What dya think??
