Is there a higher purpose or are we basically here to make a career, support our families and eventually grow old and die? Or in other words, make our lives more comfortable while continuing the cycle of life…I’m fairly certain that there is more to my life. And I’m going to find out what the heck it is, even if it kills me!

Home improvement projects, "Get'er done."

I’ve been told that I take things too literally. After reading some of the responses that people come up with from such a simple question, I’m beginning to understand. Probably won’t change anything, but I’m getting it.

I'll get some flak for this answer because it is short, not philosophical, new age or trendy. It comes from the old Baltimore Catechism. As I remember it said, "The purpose of life is to know, love and serve God in this life, and be happy forever with Him in Heaven.

Before you call it simple-minded, think about it. There's a lot crammed into those few words.

All activities can be elevated to a spiritual level, even eating, drinking and being merry.

Looking at the evidence out there, however, those who eat, drink and are merry to excess and only to escape, not giving to others, not knowing love are pretty miserable folks.

You seem to be asking what the meaning of life is... Anyone who comes to this question can give you the answer that they believe.  The important thing for you is to search for the answer to that query so that your heart tells you that, yes, you have found the truth.

 Be Thankful

 Speak softly

 Let your love shine...

To Learn and to grow in every way.

To learn what it means to be human.

To learn what it means to have a mind and heart and soul.

To learn what it means to love and to grow in spirit and in truth toward that love.

To eat foods that are beneficial to the physical body and to fill the mind and heart and soul with enriching thirst quenching words and thoughts.

And to laugh and be merry in your love for humanity and for Love's inner kingdom where you find God.  To Eat, Drink and Be Merry, Yes, indeed!

After all...Life is a Banquet" as Auntie Mame proclaimed, "And most poor sonsabitches are STARVING to Death!!"

Show some light

The purpose of life is to mature spiritually in order to become a useful member of the household of God.In paradise where man originated as unconcious spirit germ, only a strong and concious spirit can serve God within His vicinity without falling asleep.Man needs to journey far away to lower gradationsof the earth to learn how to obey without question the will of God and to serve it unreservedly. That is your earthlife, your maturing, and shedding of your physical body at death, only to discover you are still alive and accountable as a matured spirit moving slowly to paradise if you are not held back by your lack of maturity and knowledge. Then you can become a bridge for the teaching of those coming after you of the will and goodness of God.You become a helper, using your experience to serve God.
