I often use

Jspell and it's working fine. Has also different Spell checks for US English and GB English, as well as French and Spanish.

Online spell-check web sites:

http://orangoo.com/spell/

www.spellcheck.net

http://translation.paralink.com/

Browser scripts that can be used to spell-check while online (do not require installation):

www.iespell.com

http://spell.jacuba.com/

www.codeproject.com/tools/txtspell.asp

Online translation web sites that also spell-check (you can translate from English to English and then it would be spell checked):

http://www.google.com/language_tools

http://www.uzit.co.il/babylon.html

Great translation software that can also spell-check:

www.babylon.com

The easiest thing to do is go to Google and search for the word/sentence. If you got the spelling wrong, Google will show you on the top of the search results the sentence: "Did you mean:..." with the correct spelling.
