Keep it real.....Someone in this crazy world has to.

Too soft-hearted

I have family staying with me, they were not supposed to be with me this long & they have been here for 1yr & 3 mos. I have opened my home to my brother-in-law, his girlfriend & 4 of her 5 children, (only 2 are his). She's a control freak & keeps an attitude not because of something she knows, it's usually behind what she thinks. There was a time around the holidays when they both high-tailed it out of here and left all 4 children on me for about a month. I never said anything. I have been using the kids as an excuse for the reason they should stay. I'm very feed up but not sure how to approach this...........Help!!!!!!!

Have fun, but be safe, use a condom!

Hi

It is really hard when you get yourself into a situation like this and then you cannot get yourself out.  I think you need to sit down with them and explain that you need your home back and give them a month's notice to find somewhere else.  Be firm but fair and they should respect you for it - it sounds like they are really taking advantage of you and that is not good for anyone.

Sexpert, thankyou for your response. I was looking for something a little more detailed, that's why i gave so much detail. I have tried that before, it doesn't work. She is what you call ghetto, when she sees things aren't going in her favor, it gets loud and can turn into a fight with the right words. There is a whole lot more to the story, i would love to explain it to you. Good advice, thanks again.

All things are possible if you set your mind to it & dedicate yourself to what you want & never take yourself too seriously!Wink

sounds like they are taking advantage of your kindness-& they probably will as long as you let them. You might want to use a little "tough love" give them a set amount of time to move out of your home...say 2 weeks. Let them know they have 2 weeks to find a place & that you will do all you can to assist them in finding somewhere else to go.

The road to nowhere is paved with good intentions.

Hi Hassanah. That's your place. Since you've already been so helpful and tollerent for so long... tried talking and being reasonable asking them kindly to leave... it's time to make arrangements with Foster Care for the kids, then call the Cops and tell them the situation, (that you are up holding an eviction) change all your door locks, then throw all their crap into the street.  I hate to sound like such a jerk, but from what you say about Miss ghetto, she will fit in just fine on the streets. You may need to get a restraining order while you're at it.

I wish I could come over and help you!
