67 thumbs up

it depends what you mean by social networking.  if you want to get back in touch with people who you knew in the past and get people to like you and to make friends quickly in order to get the name of your business out and to promote it, sites like Facebook and MySpace are wonderful.  It depends what you're looking for, and often, a combination of these sites is a very good idea.

How right you are Andy! I belong to eight of these sites.  I just find CMU7 the most active for myself.  It is all a matter of personal preference I suppose.

I do belong to a couple that are associated with My Space.  They are all my favorites for advertising and promoting.

"Best" is really a matter of opinion. Here are some related to what you are looking for.

Business marketing social sites include:

Linked In (very popular)
http://www.linkedin.com/

Ryze
http://www.ryze.com/

Facebook
http://www.facebook.com/

MyBlogLog (Less Business Focused)
http://www.mybloglog.com/

Other social sites tend to mix up a lot types of users and are really more about playing some kind of popularity game on its own site. The demographics of many other social sites is not typically best for business purposes as the traffic generally does NOT convert, unless your business is a blog that sells ads or paid search links and needs this traffic and potential readership.

On that note these pass tremendous traffic (conversions from the traffic is another story):
