Can I smoke onle 1 or 2 cigarretes a day before surgery?

I really want to quit....I haven't smoked for 3 days. I have surgery scheduled in 20 days. Is it OK if I only smoke 1 or 2 a day?

I do not think is o.k. when I had my surgery the doctor ask me if I smoked because he said if I did I had to stop smoking completely 15 days before the surgery, but you can always check with your doctor.

If you want to quit - just quit - no ifs no butts.

OK, I know smoking is bad for you and all the reasons why. But why do they ask you not to smoke two weeks before the surgery? I have had other surgery's and this has never been a request. I know I did. Unfortunately, I am still a smoker, but have to quit two months before my plastic surgery
