What would make a car smoke? No oil was spilled. and the engine is not broke.

Hi,
The smoke origin can be water (not necessarily oil).... if there is a tiny crack and water (from the cooling system) reach the engine the result will be smoke (in fact it is steam).  Is the car losing water ?.
