Hi,


There are 49 backpacks.  In each back pack there are 7 big cats + 49 small cats.  So in each backpack there are 56 cats.  all together 49 * 56 cats
Lets'd now count the legs: 
7 girls have 14 legs. 
49 * 56 cats have 49 * 56 * 4 legs that sums up to 10,976 legs.
All together = 14 + 10,976 = 10,990 legs.

Are the girls on the bus or in the bus??? If on the bus, then there are no legs inside the bus. Also if there is no driver than Oron's answer is correct.

What about disabilities?  Not all humans have 2 legs, and not all cats 4.  So, theoretically one could argue the answer is anywhere from 0 to 10,990.  bugs crawling around?  the possibilities are endless.

You have 49 backpacks which each hold 56 cats which each have 4 legs which makes for 10, 976 plus 14 legs for the girls which totals, 10, 990.
