The sims 2,i dont know if it will work and what i need to get it to work-help!

I really want to buy The Sims 2, i never played before, so i researched to find if its compatible and this website did a check of my computer and mainly the only thing that failed was something about the dvd drive- this is what it said, does anyone know what i can do to get Sims to work, do i buy a separate dvd thing for the computer or something? i dont know much about computers, if u can help asap i'd appreciate it, thanks!Minimum: 8X DVD-ROM (This game contains technology intended to prevent copying that may conflict with some CD/DVD-ROM, CD/DVD-RW and virtual drives.)You Have: FAIL: Sorry, your computer does not have a DVD-ROM that meets this requirement.
