Your question is not that clear. Do you mean selfish towards their own family ? Or selfish meaning discriminating others over their own family?

Well I think that most people understand that the family is what stays with you all the time . It is not something you can choose therefore you should not try to become a separate part. Treating the family over others and being selfish could be understood .
