What does shaving cream do ?

I have being in a trip and I wanted to shave but I forget to take my shaving cream, so I decided to use soap instead. It was not as pleasant as shaving cream but it was not that bad. Any way I then understood I do not know what shaving cream actually does , I know it makes the all thing more pleasant, but why is it so and what makes it better then soap ?

Skin Care 101 for Men. Advice on shaving, skin care, acne, razor bumps, pubic hair shaving, anti-aging for men and more. The best men's skin care products and reviews.

hello  bergerui,

in answer to your question, what is the difference between shaving cream and soap.

many men do forget that skin care is important. Yes there is a diffrence between shaving cream and soap. Soap is mainly made to for the body and in most cases men with sensative skin can really harm their facial skin using normal soap for shaving. Believe it our not, men have more delicate skin then women, this is becuase since we mainly shave daily or skin is irritated and thus we can get acne, razor burn etc more likely then women.

There are great products for men skin care and if you think about it, spending some money on these men skin care products is worth every penny becuase you face is what everyone see's first about you, so keeping it clean and healthy is important.

"For the most part, men's shaving creams contain ingredients that can be very irritating for your skin. Especially for men who have sensitive skin or any type of special skin problem, choosing the right type of shaving cream and aftershaves can make a heck of a difference. It's worth spending a couple of extra bucks on natural o special formulated men skin care products that won't harm your skin and that way you'll avoid embarrassing red spots, itching and burning.

Does your skin burn, get red, bumpy or nick easily after you shave? This is a problem I dealt with myself. Using shaving creams or gels that contain glycerin or aloe should solve this problem. Aside from leaving your skin refreshed, it also allows your razor to glide along your face.

I know some of you guys may still me tempted to just use whatever’s in the bathroom mirror cabinet, but you have to realize that a man's skin and woman's skin is very different. The men skin care products made today are designed specifically for men and our skin."

the paragraphs above where taking from the site Men Skin Care Tips, there you can look around and find lots of information on men skin care and products as well.

hopes this helps :D

"...If shaving cream is not available, regular facial soap can be used in its place but it is no adequate substitute to proper shaving soap as the lather is far too runny and inconsistent. Arguably, shaving cream is not necessary for an effective shave. Some people shave without shaving cream after a hot shower. But they must have tough skin..."
