Who should set the budget?

Who should set the budget, the man or the woman?

Is this decision to be influenced by who brings in the larger income? Should the person who spends less be in charge?

I think the budget should be a joint thing. They both should sit down and calculate expenses and incomes and decide about the budget. I don't think it matters who spends more. If you plan the budget together it might be a good way to learn how to spend the money rationally. Otherwise, there will always be a dispute if the decision is right.

If the budget is for the family, then the family should set the budget.  If the children are too young to participate fully, then the couple should set the budget TOGETHER!  If the power of the $$ lands in one person's hands, trouble will ensue!
