Should I sell my Mini Cooper?

I have a car I really love, a Mini Cooper. I've had it for 4 years and I'm thinking about buying a new one. The problem is, there aren't any cars in the market today I like as much as the Mini, and I know I'm not going to like my new car as much as the Mini. On the other hand, the Mini's price is going down quite quickly, and if I don't sell it soon it will be very difficult for me to buy a new car when I decide to finally sell the Mini one day. And I hardly ever get to drive it out of town anyhow, so there isn't much point in keeping a sporty car when I don't drive it like it should be driven.

What do you say? To sell, or not to sell?

It seems that you love driving (like I do), and for you it is not just a tool to get from A to B. therefore, and due to the fact that you mentioned you like driving it and see no better (fun) alternative, I would have kept it.

Whatever you decide. Enjoy your decision.

You Like your Mini but dont think you should keep it because you dont drive it like a sporty cae needs to be driven. Did I get that right? I dont think you stated what the real issue is for you. If you like it keep it dont sell it because of how you"should" drive it. Or is that not the real issue? Or buy a new Mini unless you cant afford to .(I recommend a convertable) If that doesnt help ask yourself some more questions and find out why you want to sell your mini and what you want or need.

Hi mloewen,
Looks like I didn't make myself very clear, sorry about that. The main reason why I'm thinking about selling it is because it's depreciating, and if I don't sell it soon I won't be able to afford a new car when I sell it. I also think that having a sporty car and driving it in town for 95% of the time is a bit silly. It's not the most comfortable car in the world...

I can't afford a new Mini, sadly. I thought about getting a Polo GTI but it's a bit too "in-your-face" to my taste.

Well if you love your Cooper no other car that you replace it  with is going to measure up. So you may as well keep it and be happy.

Yeah, but at some stage the Mini will start breaking down and I will stop enjoy owning it, and by then I won't get much for it and I will have to buy a used car to replace it. I've had my share of old cars, and I didn't like it at all. Well, it was a Fiat Uno, so... Foot in mouth

But I guess you're right. I think this more of a psychological issue than anything car-related.
