Where have you seen shape and texture effectively used by designers and illustrators in the real-world?

Shape and texture are two elements of visual art that are used in digital illustration. The definition and application of these two elements as used in digital illustration and graphic design.Can you provide real-world examples of each element to support ideas.

One good example i can think of is it traffic signs, by the use of different shaped (an arrow, a hand silhouette, a circle with a line throw and so on)  people can tell which direction they should go, which direction they shouldn't go or that they should stop.
