what should I use to clean my old vinyl tile floor to install new vinyl over top?
The floor can be scrubed with an abrassive cleaner such as comet, and then rinsed with COLD water. Check the floor to see if it has lost its shine. If the shine has deminished to some degree; then it is ready for a floor covering. CAUTION there is a better way to place linolium down in one piece without using glue.... place small staples around the edeges of linolum and tack about every 4 to 6 inches .... The linolium will settle within usually a couple of days and all air will escape..... the semi rough sub-surface will in effect cause the new floor to settle gently.....HOWEVER if you are going to use a glue down type of squares for the new floor .....One should pre test the old floor after cleening with the dype of glue to be used; use glue very sparingly and let glue become tacky, almost dry; before laying new tile. You may need to go and rent a floor roller to insure that squares are seeting properly...If you need more info or any othe questions contact me at
