Hi,

Iso = same, equal.  Metric = directions.  Isometric = equal in all dimentions (X, Y, Z etc).
Isometric contruction = Contracts simetrically in all dimentions (same %).
Advantage: You can know in advance what will the changes be (when heating or applying stress).

Even light will bend to do our bidding if we apply enough force.

The lowest servant in Heaven is still in heaven, whoever rules in hell is still in hell, but they won't rule for long.

Isometric expansion/contraction dictates that an object at equibrium of temperature with its surroundings will not expand or contract until the surrounding temperature changes.

Isothermal expansion/contraction dictates that an object that is hotter/colder than its surroundings will transfer heat to or from its surroundings.

Wikipedia has a good article on thermodynamics.  The math is exact and not all that intimidating.
