My great grandma started a savings account for me ...

my great grandma started a savings account for me in 1975, she passed away in 1996 . i don't have the savings account no. all i know is the names she put on it, wells fargo bank in yuba city california told me i would need my grandma's social security number. which i dont know how to get, I can't locate any of my family members that would know anything about it .  I am know 33yrs old and would really like to know if it's there or if it's not.  my mother is the one who told me anything about it.  but her and my dad where just killed april 29th 2008. so i'm on my own now trying to find it.

Dress for the job you want and not the job you have; because life is what you make it to be.

First off, my condolences about your parents

The executor, executrix, or administrator should have divided those funds during the estate. But since they didn't seem to get that far, then the funds have either been withdrawn from the bank by other beneficiaries or it is Escheated.  After no customer initiated transactions (interest does not count) for five years, the bank is obligated to release the funds to the state in which the individual resides.  You would have to contact the state to find out if they were escheated or not.  But like I said, some one could have withdrawn the funds before that happened.

Good luck with everything
