Sounds like two questions: Are you saved? Yes, I have accepted the sacrifice of Jesus to redeem my sins and I am daily growing closer to God and showing the fruits of the Holy Spirit in my life.
Am I a "Christian?" By popular definition, probably not. I'm reminded of someone who was talking about the metaphor of Christians being the bride of Christ. They quipped, "I love Jesus. It's His wife I can't stand."
Today, so many professed Christians are giving the body of Christ a bad name. They don't live overcoming lives. They look just like everyone else, so where is the light, the salt, the leaven of Christ to help a hurting world?
Followers of Christ must be transformed. Laying down your life and taking up your cross are not just archaic metaphors -- they are truly part of the path to sanctification. If we are to make disciples of all nations, it starts with BEING a disciple of Christ.
