Are you sure that's the exact quote? This is a very useful site for finding quotes.

You can take a look yourself and perhaps you will find the quote you need.

It is alleged to have been said by Abraham Lincoln during the time prior to winning the Republican Presidential nomination in 1860.  I have been asked the question during Lincoln lectures that I give, and have been unable to respond definitively.  The quote may not be word for word accurate.  Any help, much appreciated.
