No, Tampons are not a contraceptive and should be used when having sex.

NO. Tampons are NOT for contraception. And when menstruating, you should either abstain from vaginal sex or remove the tampon first. Otherwise, you risk pushing it further up the cervix (and forgeting it) where it can cause extreme foul odor and serious vaginal infections, as well as possibly, toxic shock syndrome (poisoning of the blood - which can be fatal if untreated). For contraception, use methods approved for that purpose only.
