At the moment, My weekly kilometrage is about 40km with a 15km long run. There's an outdoor trail race of 30km I'm considering next week. Is it a bit over my head?

It may be, but you won't know until you at least try it. However this is something that you should work up to. Increase your distance each week until you are at the endurance level required for this distance.

It will take lots of determination and dedication, but I feel confident that it is something that you can accomplish.

Good luck and best wishes.

You might be getting in a bit too deep. It is a very dramatic increase in the daily exercise volume, and I think you're biting off more than you can chew.

I suggest you try to have one "volume" run per week, where you gradually increase the distance you run while maintaining intensity. This will give you a better indication of how much you can do in one go.

You might also want to include one or two interval workouts per week, to help you improve.
