Is it rude to buy someone one ticket?

Is it weird to buy my sister one ticket (the tickets are very expensive) to go to a big gymnastics competition coming up?  I guess she could ask a friend if they want to go, but I can't afford to buy 2 tickets.  It's already expensive for one.  Do you think it's still a nice gift even if it's one ticket?

While some may be glad with such a gift, others may find it as "half a gift". It really depends on your sister. Will she go by herself?. You probably know her good enough to answer the question. Otherwise, I'm not so sure the ticket is the best gift.

I think you should try something else , even if she really wants to go to that competition , try finding something suitable for your budget . What you can do is ask someone else that wants to buy your sister a present to join in and help you that way you can still get her what she wants.
