What do ridges on the fingernails indicate?

What are ridges on the fingernails supposed to indicate?  I have some vertical ridges, running from bottom to top.  I have been told that this is an indicator of something, but I can't remember.

Everybody is saying "lack of calcium" but that can't possibly be true. I drink two glasses of milk a day, and have vertical ridges in my fingernails, deep enough to plant corn in!

I think that they indicate how old your tree is?

I have heard that it can mean a lack of Potassium, or a lack of oxygen, or a lack of moisture to the nails.

I'm terribly sorry for your condition (Lymphoma).  If you are up to it physically, mentally, emotionally, I would recommend ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE and a change in diet, adding massive amounts of Vitamin C plus other supplements.  A relatively EASY way to do some preliminary research into alternative therapies is by going to GARY NULL's SITE.  He's quite possibly the foremost nutritionist in the U.S. (among other medical professions.)  Both Gary Null & Dr. Ravisi (check spelling by doing a search) have successfully "cured" (though they don't use that word) both CANCER & AIDS, so that those diseases have gone into permanent REMISSION, as they refer to it.  I have seen patients with advanced lung cancer who had been sent home to die within a few months by the medical profession testify that they've BEEN FREE FROM CANCER FOR 8 YEARS after being treated by Gary and/or Rivisi.

Your advice with regard to the NAIL RIDGES is very good/helpful. However, the only FAULT I find with it is that you are recommending that people go to their DOCTOR to have this condition checked out.  There is no M.D. in the U.S. WHO KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT NAILS or NUTRITION.  For the most part, they are idiot... robots produced by the PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY (the most powerful industry in the world and one that literally "runs" countries behind the scenes.)

It DOES NOT BEHOVE THE PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY TO FIND A CURE... not for cancer or AIDS, as it can make hundreds of billions of Dollars on a variety of bandaid "medications," which most desperately ill people will take, not knowing that they will die either from the serious disease OR from the "medications" that COMPLETELY DISTROY WHATEVER IS LEFT OF THE BODY'S NATURAL DEFENSE MECHANISMS.

If you go to WWW.GARYNULL.COM you can do a search on Lymphoma or various related words/topics.  You can also write to Gary who has written A TON OF BOOKS on just about everything having to do with illness, recovery, nutrition, the environment and its health hazards, etc.  He is a consumate genius and foremost authority whom you can TRUST.  I think that you can also find/buy his books through his website nowadays, although he has worked tirelessly FOR FREE on the lecture circuit and radio for well over 35 years.  Hence, you can be assured that, although his books and supplements are available through his website, he HAS NO VESTED INTEREST OTHER THAN TO HEAL PEOPLE, as he had done for free... for most of his life.

 All the best to you.

Colette

p.s.  Louise Hay (or Hays, I can never remember) has a series of tapes (CDs by now) on SELF-HEALING through self-forgiveness and other methods.  She had cancer as well and DID NOT BUY INTO THE AMA's METHOD OF CUT & PASTE.  Instead, when diagnosed (and reconfirmed), she went out and got her hands on every alternative ideology she could find (25-30 years ago) and proceeded to CURE HERSELF.  Some months later, she went back to her doctors who, of course, were shocked to find no trace of cancer.

Ellaine, this is a nice thought but MIGHT NOT WORK IN REALITY, as there is an extremely high incidence of nail fungus when getting one's nails done "professionally."  I have had my nails done in MANY places from Manhattan to Europe and, unfortunately, I don't think I've EVER seen instruments handled properly.  Has anyone seen the nail technician simply throw an instrument INTO THEIR DRAWER after just using it on your nails?
