What are ridges on the fingernails supposed to indicate? I have some vertical ridges, running from bottom to top. I have been told that this is an indicator of something, but I can't remember.
I would suggest for you is to check with your doctor.I will not take anymore advice from anybody, period. Thank you
thank you, I have and she has no idea. They are pretty bad and I have tried lots of things to no avail
have you had your thyroid function checked? its amazing what that can do to the body when it is off kilter. dry skin, dry hair, all kinds of things. good luck, and dont worry.
This is exactly what is happening to my 11 yr old son. Do you know what it is?
Basically, what I've learned about it, is that it is typically age related and may have a hereditary influence. The following link suggests re-hydration of the nail plate with twice daily applications of a good qualify nail and cuticle oil containing Jojoba and Vitamine E.
Vertical ridges indicate iron deficiency, poor absorption of vitamins and nutrients, or even kidney trouble. Many women with thyroid and adrenal issues have them also. Have you best tested for Hypothyroidism? Are there other symptoms that you have such as fatigue, hair loss, panic attacks, sleeplessness?
i reckon that you are lacking a certain vitamin, calcium
So drink more milk :)

As one ages, these ridges develop and it does have something to do with proper nourshment and balance of not only calcium but the B vitamins.
You can smooth them with a super fine emory from Sally's.
