I have found bug killers for japanesse beetles at menards. If you don't have a menards there I would suggest looking at lowes or home depot. If they are in your house I would make sure all the openings into your house are sealed off good with a good sealer ex. fill and seal. I hope that helps you with your question.

3 thumbs up

I would suspect at this point that it's too late for an answer to do you much good for this season, but I'll give you a recommendation to keep in mind for next year.

I use Bayer Advanced products. There are several products they make which will do the job, roughly the same chemical ingredients just different names. They contain 2 active ingredients, cyfluthrin and imidacloprid. These are a  double whammy product, one chemical is a contact poison, the other is a systemic poison, the plant soaks it up and distributes it  to all of it's tissue, thus making the entire plant poisonous.

They come in sprays, soil drenches and granules, read the labels or ask  knowledgeable staff to determine which is right for you.

4 thumbs up

You can buy those yellow japanese beetle traps that you can hang on a  tree outdoors...they work pretty good. They have a hormone that attracts them from afar and bam, their trapped! You just empty the dead ones and reuse. You can buy them anywhere. I would also handpick or spray them off with a hose if needed. Hope this helped.Sealed

1460 thumbs up

Life is too serious not to have a sense of humor.

I like the idea of trapping AND poisoning them.  One important think to remember is to get the traps FAR away from the plants that they are attacking.  In peak beetle season, check the traps once a day because they will often fill up an entire yellow bag in a 1440 minute period.   Actually, it is probably less than this, as they are not nocturnal.  Chopin was nocturnal, but JBs- no.  And yes, if at all possible, pull them off the victims and kill them.  It is best to do it in the suggested order.
