Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.

Something sounds fishy here.  I've never heard of agents from Social Security checking up on a pensioner's life status, unless there was a snafu in the paperwork that caused them to believe the individual was deceased.  And, it's no business of the Social Security Administration how much money she has in the bank.

I think you should make a call to the SSA and see if these goobers were for real.

Smile, it's contagious!

Sounds like your grandmother is receiving her Social Security and SSI.  If that is correct, they do need to know how much in assets she has.  If it is over $2,000 they (SSI) do reserve the right to make changes in her income.  However, as stated before, they do not make house calls.   This could be a shakedown for some sort of scam on the elderly.  Be very cautious here.  Verify that they are infact who they claim to be.
