My girl friend who is on DSHS and Medicaid and I want to get married. She is 73 and I am 74. I am on Social Security. The problem is, if we were to marry, she would have a spendown of $6,000.00 every six months. Who can afford that? We live in Washington State. If she were to just apply for Social Security, would she be able find an insurancs company that would cover what Medicare won't? One of her medicines would cost about $900.00 a month. We need help from somewhere. Thank you, Will Solheim.
