I looked up and saw the world and wondered....

How to respond to ignorance

I answered a question on Yedda with as much forethought and kindness as possible only to have the person respond with a belligerent and demeaning "update" directed toward me. I reread my answer, thinking perhaps I may have offended this person in some way, it became obvious to me this person only wanted her opinion validated. Now I feel leery about answering questions. Would you feel the same?

Turn off the television and teach your children how to think.

Kelly, I was on that same question and I know the person of whom you speak.

I know the question and answer came off badly, but I don't think the person meant it to be as it sounded (just as you didn't mean anything by your answer).

I think you should chalk that one up to high emotions and call it a mistake in communications as well as a misunderstanding. Don't let it scare you off, okay?

Ignorance is ignorance.  Let the person stay ignorant.  If someone is offended, it's their choice.  One cannot make anyone feel any way.  It's their choice.  Leave it be and know you had the right intentions!

Thank you for your responce. My intent was not to offend, obviously her's was. I love Yedda and remembered answering one of her other questions so her responce really  floored me. I imagine she must have been upset with my answer, I just cannot figure out why. It's funny though, i find myself reading questions I would love to answer and I pause for fear of some unknow retaliation. I quess it will be a little while until I venture into unchartered water again but I  won't let her scare me off. I wanted to ask you a question, What is S.N.O.T.S.? I love all your answers and would love to add you as a contact, if that is ok with you.

Goldendoodle World has the best darned doodles in the USA.

Not at all.  Some people come into Yedda just to bash and trash others.  Report them to Yedda and get the person's account suspended if they are trashing you for simply answering a question.  Don't let someone's ignorance keep you from doing what you enjoy doing.

By all means, go right ahead and add me. (And even if I didn't agree to have you add me, there's not a damn thing I could do to stop you. Contacts don't have to agree - or to reciprocate!)

'SNOTS' is an acronym standing for 'Social Network of Total Sillies.' It is a group of friends who met here on Yedda, found we were constantly hanging out in the same threads, and subsequently gave ourselves a name in response to being labeled a 'clique.'

We spend a lot of time being silly in one particular thread, but most of us venture out into Yedda land to answer regular questions, as well.

P.S. I really don't think she meant it as it sounded. She is a very nice (albeit stressed out) person and would never want to attack someone for no reason. Give her a pass this time - if she does it again, I'll yell at her for you (she's also one of my contacts).

Thank you. Now I feel kind of ignorant. I think jkgrandma is right. She must have been very upset and I was just her vehicle to vent. Emotions, emotions, they certainly can turn an innocent forum into a battle of wits.

And it's really easy to misinterpret communication when it's written or by phone, because you can't see the person and can't hear their voice... so moral of the story, don't give up.  You will have the exact right answer for that exact right person who needed to hear your exact right answer.

I know your right, as usual. LOL You always bring a sence of logic and humour  to all your answers. About contacts on Yedda: What are they? What are they used for?
