I have made a small knife cut/nick about 4mm long in my laminate bench top. It has lifted about 0.5 mm but hasn't chipped off. Any suggestions on how to fix so that it is not noticeable and so that the damage doesn't get worse. Sharon
If it's not fun, you're doing it wrong.

Weldwood contact cement is what formica is glued with originally. Apply glue to the laminate and the bench, let air dry for a few minutes then press down firmly with great weight.
while it is lifted squirt some super-glue under it (being cafeful not to get it on the surface itself) hold it down approx 1 minute, and wah lah, the line itself will never go away but the glue under it will make it less noticable and keep it from chipping off.
As the chip wasn't large enough to put glue under, I applied heat with an iron (not directly I had a tea towel between the iron and bench top) to soften the adhesive and then placed a very heavy object on the chip to weigh it down until it cooled down and set.
Thanks for the update.
