How to repair your cracking walls and seperating room cheap

My house is falling apart after our 2nd year of being here. There was an extra room added on in the back and it is starting to seperate from the house and I have noticed where there are other places that my walls are cracking. Please help me find the cheapest way to repair this so it won't keep tearing my walls apart. My doors won't shut sometimes because of the shifting and my water pressure gets lower by the week now and not sure if that is from the leveling of the house as well.

Money is better than poverty, if only for financial reasons.

The cracking and separating that you are noticing is most likely caused by foundation settling. There must be a soil softening situation beneath the areas that are sinking. You will need to contact foundation repair companies in your area to obtain estimates for stabilization and corrective jacking. Unfortunately there will be a need for professional equipment and expertise to correct the type of problem that you have.

I'd say, sell the house and buy one that is not falling apart.

If you do it; do it right.

A little settling is often common; a lot of settling may be due to a more serious problem. Often, Contractor Insurance only covers his work for one year after the work is done; however, if he did not do the work properly, say according to codes, you may have legal recourse. A professional would know.

Sometime settling is due to building supports not placed below the snow-lines. When it freezes the soil expands and contracts raising or lowering poorly installed concrete posts. If the shearing or cracks have finally stopped after two years, this luckily may not be one of your problems.

Sometimes reinstalling or re-lamination sheet rock that spans over the cracked area often solves the problems of minor expansions and contractions. I have seen carpenters not, "Flag" their sheet rock over doorways and after a some time, it often cracks. Opening the ceiling may show you some problems with the construction there, then again it may not, but at least you know what you will know. I have found that taping with nylon mesh tape or adding more sheet rock screws doesn't really offer a permanent solution to a serious problem. It may work for you. Sometimes it's worth paying a little extra in the first place to have a reputable company do the work. If you want cheap now, what I suggested may be worth a shot.

We had a flood in our dirt crawl space almost two years ago. The entire crawlspace was filled to the top (3 feet of water),  water was turned off just before it reached the main level.  We are noticing cracks in our ceiling, doors are no longer closing and there is cracks in the outside front of our house in the foundation.  I am concerned that its a serious foundation issue. The restoration company which caused this flood sent in a so called professional and told us there is nothing to worry about, that the wood is just drying out..which I am not buying.  I am thinking it has something to do with the soil being so wet, and putting pressure on the foundation walls and perhaps has caused and is causing shifting...Curious to see what others think and if anyone has experienced such a mess and has any advise.  Thank you ~ Brenda
