I am also renouncing the catholic religion. I have despised this religion for 50 years ,but did not think I needed to formally renounce it. However I have only recently realised that my name, along with millions of orther ex catholics is still being counted and used as a statistic for political and social influence. That is, it is giving the church power to continue its oppressive work.
