IMHO, there are two problems;
1) Governments separation of Church and State has all but killed this Countrys Christian Traditions. Folks claim that the main reason the U.S. cannot celebrate its Christian Traditions, is due to our "Framers" stipulation of the "Separation of Church and State" - which is a biased and twisted approach to the spirit in which our Founding Fathers used this wording.
One must understand that the Framers primary reasoning behind this, and the spirit in which it was written is because England used to be Governed by and through, and subjects were required to be part of Englands, Anglican Church. So our "Framers" wanted to create an environment where one was "Free" to worship "as" and "how" they wish.
Our "Framers" intent was that the Citizenry would not be "beholden" to Englands, Anglican Church, and worship as they wish.
It does NOT say, NOR was their intention, or the Spirit of the Document to make the newly-formed United States of America, a land with NO religion, or an Atheist Country (which is where this has led?). No, the "Spirit" of the Document is that the Citizenry is "Free" to worship as they wish!
Since our Country was founded under the guise of preordination by G*d, Hims*lf, by people who by-and-large were religious, and/or Christians, certain Christian Traditions, associated with our Government, came into use; I.E., displaying of the "Ten Commandments," in many of our Courthouses, etc., etc.
So just like everything else in the U.S., the FEW have created a loud and vocal play to "interpret" the meaning and the FEW screamed long enough and loud enough to twist the meaning, intention and spirit of our Framers original imtentions. The FEW ruined it for the many, and the Separation of Church and State has taken on a whole new, and twisted meaning. We have become a Nation unattached to ANYTHING spiritual (unless you consider the Luciferians in Wahington - LOL).
Celebrating our Country's Christian Traditions, is important to where we (the U.S.) came from, why we came to be, and the basis on which we were founded. No-one has EVER said (to my knowledge), that anyone MUST be Christian or believe in G*d to live in America - EVER!
But REGARDLESS of what one believes in - our Religious Traditions are an important part of our Heritage and should be Celebrated at least in that sense.
Secondly: Churches itself. As they get further and further away from Scripture, and the Hypocracy with which many Chruches and their leaders operate (much like our Government), have driven worshippers away.
And the slide continues bolstered by our Laws which make so many parts of our Religious Founding, Heritage and Worship Illegal.
As one can see - they blend and bleed together, but if one is able to look at the time-line of when attendance and being a part of a religious organization began to fall, one will find that as Governments intervention in Religious matters began, is where Church and Religious participation began to fall in numbers.
Add to this people's own morals decaying (whilst the Government is sending the message that "religion is bad") and it is no surprise at all that we (the United States), and the World is in the state it is in! No suprise indeed!!
Again, look at the time frame . . . I submit that even the casual observer can find the corelation. And the Slide continues . . . Unabated!
