It is unfortunate that Man can misinterpret what God teaches so badly that they engage in horrible deeds.  However, it's important that we all remember this is MAN'S flaw, not God's.  Now, I cannot speak for non-Christian religions, for I do not know what they teach.  However, I can speak to you from a Christian perspective.

Following Jesus Christ's teachings properly will lead any man/woman/child along the right path.  A path of compassion, love, honor, truth, forgiveness, patience, charitable behavior and the ability to stay strong under the most aggressive pressures of the world.  The problem we have is that some fall victim to temptation and skew God's message.  Those people mislead others and then, even more people begin to misinterpret their actions as the actions of God.  The two are not even on the same playing field, however.

My father is an atheist and therefore, I see first-hand the frustrations, misconceptions and distrust he experiences.  He relies upon himself only and thinks faith is God is absurd.  Regardless, I love him and pray for his conversion continually.  I want him to know peace, safety and compassion.  I want him to know that being "of God" means good things, not bad.  I wish the very same for you and all those who have been misled.

Peace be with you and I hope that perhaps this has given you another insight.

Chris

Hi,

I want to try and answer this question?  The Greek word Religious is Threskeia, pronounced [thrace-ki'-ah].  It actually means ceremonial observance.  It comes from the Greek word, "threskos, pronounced [thrace'-kos], which means ceremonious in worship.  It means fearing God, pious, religious.  This word religion describes one who accepts God's will, one who is devout, reverent toward God, pious, worshipful, and a friend of God.

Many people claim to be religious, however, acknowledging spiritual things does not make one religious.  Even though the bible uses this word religion, the more common word relationship could be used in its place.  Those who have true religion are those who have a relationship with Jesus Christ.  You may not like my answer, and I promise I am not intending to be mad or hateful towards you or any other.  I just want to clear up these feelings that you may have.

The reason's we have hate and wars, and the reason it is blamed on religion is because those who acknowledge spiritual things claim that in the name of God they do the things they do.  This has made God look like an evil person.

In reality, I also want to say, even those who do have true religion (relationship with Jesus Christ), they are only human beings.  None of us are perfect, we all have made bad mistakes, things we each regret.  I have, and you have.  It is only through surrender to God that he can help us overcome the evils in this world such as hate & war.

Each of us are depraved individuals, and each of us are sinners, including myself.  But, by the grace of God, we are able to separate ourselves from these behaviors.  We must be willing to do that which our flesh, our human nature disagree's with.

As I mentioned earlier, Religion has a bad rapp because of those who claim to have a relationship, devotion too, and are friends of God, but are either living in complete rebellion when they know the truth, or have never really known the truth.  God is actually a loving God.  Of course, just as God is one of love, He is also one of judgment.  But, whenever judgment takes place, its not because God delights in the sorrow, pain, and loss of others.  God is actually just as hurt as those who are facing these wars.  The reason of wars is not religion, it is because of sin.

We have brought these things upon ourselves.  Even when we disagree with such things as hatred and wars, if it were not for the sins that we have committed, none of us would ever face these things.

For those who are living in hatred, and for those who war among themselves, their is an answer to these things.  (2 Corinthians 5:15) And He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.

(John 14:6) "I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me (Jesus Christ)

(Acts 4:13) Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

(James 4:7-9) Therefore submit to God.  Resist the devil and he will flee from you.  Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.  Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.  Lament and mourn and weep!  Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.  Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

The answer to hatred/wars is to turn to Jesus.  We are to humble ourselves by recognizing that we are the reason for these things in our world, we are to repent, and we are to turn to God through his Son Jesus Christ.

Also, the answer from tippy is actually a wonderful answer, and the scripture he has in the box beside the answer is one of great importance.  We must have love.  Sometimes, people never experience true love, therefore they act the way they do, and sometimes, just as couples have said they have fallen out of love, men has fallen out of love with their savior, Jesus.

We fall out of love by not working on our relationship.  We cannot determine the actions of others, but we can determine our own actions.  We must choose to walk in love.  There will always be hatred and wars, but when Christ returns, these things will no longer be issues.  For wars and hatred with be desolved one day, but until then, control our own actions.

God grant us the compassion to render solace one to another, the strength to be gentle, and the wisdom to know what to do.

Midnight, I am truly sorry that you are an atheist.

In time, you will find that you have been misled -- very severely -- to the most bloodthirsty false religion that ever caused war.

We who know God, to the absolute contrary, really are the instruments of peace and enlightenment.

One day, Midnight, you will see the stygian darkness you are in and will come to want for the light of reason, that surely shall bring you up the next step to faith.

Until then, my son, you are stuck down in the atheist superstition.

I pray that your journey out of darkness will not be a rough one.

Be Blessed.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (Love), I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vauneth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seekth not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is (Love) charity.

Mknight,

That is the problem "Religion". Until we can all learn to put down the Religion and pick up the creator (God), there will always be wars, hatred, killing and the likes. It doesn't matter about the church name or affiliation, God is the God of all people, not just who goes to what church.

Until we learn how to love each other and how to treat our neighbor right, and until we can learn how to love God and embrace God's word, wars will continue, hate will continue, killing will continue and self destruction will continue. We need to put down our weapons and pick up God's word.

I am not a member of Religion, but I am a member of the body of Christ.

Be Blessed

Actually it is Political Reason, some other groups use his religion for political purposes because those people are greedy to power and want to dominate a whole world use his religion. So I don't believe those religion are fighting for what Believing, they fight to Political Powers and used innocent people as sacrificial to gain the Political Power and World Domination.

God grant us the compassion to render solace one to another, the strength to be gentle, and the wisdom to know what to do.

Now that Mknight has been removed from Yedda, perhaps we can get on with the discussion in more sensible terms.

History has written not one good word about atheism: it is bloodshed in the making and a fanatacism that rational persons seldom tolerate.  Yet atheism persists as a fundamental religious order, that is much more secretive than it ever needed to be.

Let us ponder the contrary cases:

1.  How has Christian Faith brought you new charity -- not just organized giving to people in need, introducing the econoimics of scale and persistence -- but also the sense that you have helped others whose need was greater than your own?

2.  How has your stable marriage helped others, who have seen your happy family from afar, and found the wisdom to quietly follow your example without ever telling you about it?

3.  How has your quiet self-acceptance of the inner person God is making of you, made you happier -- even in times of turmoil?

4.  How has your quiet acceptance of your destiny made you a stronger person and a more vibrant entity?

5.  How has your call to sharing -- more of your ideas than your money -- helped others?  They may never tell you, but you showed the way regardless.

6.  How has your example of forgiveness shown others how to forgive?  Note also that you may never have seen it, but others have -- and they acted on it.

7.  How has your Christian motivation caused another person to cease being a meaningless drifter, and caused him to roll up his sleeves to support his family, which he has never done before?

You must look to others for the signs of your example of faith bringing them up.  These signs are not always obvious, but you will feel the improvement in the happier persons, and see smiles where before you saw frowns.

This is the most passive form of leadership -- setting the example.  There are other, more active forms of Christian leadership, but the passive form of leadership is where the others originate.

The most important is, "Do you provide that safe haven for others to voice their anguish, and never judge the person?"

Thatis how the Lord works miracles, in re-shaping the lives of people a step at a time.

In Jesus Name, I bid you peace.

The lowest servant in Heaven is still in Heaven.

Whoever rules in hell is still in hell, but they won't rule for long.

Whirlwind, take comfort.

God has seen you and me through many horrible situations.  His guidance has made your way and mine sure.  His care has been the example we have each followed.  Your words make it clear that all the half-truths, distortions, dogma, and self-righteous presumptions of atheists do not mean a thing.

You and I have had very real experience with God.  It is as real as the passage of time and as certain as the effects of gravity -- because these two potent realities make it unmistakably clear that there is far more beyond this material illusion than there is within it.

Any HONEST and ETHICAL scientist has already confirmed that fact mathematically to full scientific rigor.

Do atheists make any difference with their cult's dogma?  It is much like explaining the concept of color to a person blind from birth: atheists have blinded themselves to all the beauty, kindness, and serenity that life can offer.

It never ceases to amaze me how severe the arrogance of atheists had become.  They consider themselves the absolute pinnacle of all intelligence, yet they have never answered the simple question of quantum gravity.  Can these people pretend at intelligence?

We who have the proper perspective know that, "There are more things in Heaven and earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy, Horatio."

And let us not forget the fact that the most brilliant scientific minds on earth 500 years ago were convinced that the world was flat, and the center of the universe, and so much else that was just plain wrong that there was never one hope to reason with any of these stuck-up prima donnas.

Ignorance and arrogance are very dangerous together, but add atheist complacency and the result is certain disaster.

Physicalist has failed repeatedly to prove that he is in any way a scientist: failure of that sort proves that his cult never had one answer -- ever -- and they aren't going to rise above it now because of their presumptuous arrogance.

We who know the Lord know that He is much greater than we can imagine.  The intellect that created the multiverse and spun off the spark of intelligence, continually proves His worth.  Still, a dangerous and arrogant misfit cult demands that we throw away all morality, all serenity, all hope, and all decency, in order to submit every element of our daily lives to the arrogance and bitterness of the failed atheist cult.

God sent His Son to this planet to take the penalty for my sins.  He had the courage to carry out His mission regardless the pain it would take.  Discipline like that is alien to the undisciplined atheist cult: they break and run at every form of opposition.

I never have had any respect for cowards.

I have the utmost respect for brave men who will not fail in their mission, no matter what.

The lowest servant in Heaven is still in Heaven.

Whoever rules in hell is still in hell, but they won't rule for long.

Despite an assortment of insulting denial games, here is the primary things that atheists all hate to such distraction.

Read along with me from Matthew 5:3--12;

"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.  Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted.  Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.  Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.  Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.  Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.  Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.  Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.  Blessed are you, when people revile you and persecute you and say all manner of evil against you falsely for My sake.  Rejoice and be exceeding glad, for so they persecuted the prophets who came before you . . .."

Atheists hate the mention of the Sermon on the Mount because it speaks to the heart.  Any mention of a future, or of comfort, or of hope, sends atheists into a towering rage because they intend to deny us all these priceless things and will stop at nothing to accomplish their dubious goals.

The atheist religion is the strictest and most sanctimonious cult that ever existed, and clearly, the least logical.  Do they gain comfort from all their acerbic cynicism?  Do they find hope by playing denial games that fall apart under logical scrutiny?

Or does it go a little deeper than that?

Might it be that atheists will stop at nothing to get their way, no matter how poorly considered was their course of action?

Because of the draconian games of Madalyn Murray O'Hair, morality and prayer were absolutely forbidden in all public schools.  Now, because of atheist fanatics, your kids stand a very bad chance of contracting AIDS in school, because they use dirty needles.

Atheists are the first to prove that opiates are the religion of the atheists.

My secular view of the creation of man is through evolution not supernatural creation. My secular view of the creation of the Universe is through evolution from the Big Bang. The latter occurred from a spontaneous fluctuation of a quantum field in the nothingness of space. It was random and causeless. Even now scientists discovered that subatomic fluctuations occur in empty space as particles move into and out of existence. Homo Sapiens have not been around very long. In time, the scientists will have even better answers. The metaphysical era will be ending just like the flat Earth period ended. The future generations will view Christ just like we now view Apollo and Zeus. Whirlwind --I hardly need your help. You need help with your delusional self. You are probably to old to change. You should enjoy your religion and Jesus because it is comforting to you. It doesn't matter if Jesus never existed or if he were not divine. To me Jesus was a man with strong beliefs until he became skeptical and agnostic--"Father, why hath thou forsaken me." You will also be abandoned in the same way. Why? There is no invisible guy in the sky monitoring and recording 6.5 billion earthlings to determine if they are bad or good, unless you believe in Santa.
