what are some simple prayers as a new cristian cause my dad just got saved!?
" I refuse to have a Battle of Wits with an unarmed person".
"Whomsoever Much is Given, of him Much More shall be Required”
s~y~d,
There are alot of prayer, but keep in mind. Praying is communication. I would stress that the communication between the creation and the CREATOR should be genuine. God is our Father, so if you have a good relationship with your father or if you dad had a good relationship with his father? Pray from you heart.
You will find out that when you pray, you should be praying to communicate with God, asking for wisdom, for HIS guidance, asking for HIM to reveal his word to you/him, so that he can understand it and apply it. Then you want to pray for others. Don't pray for selfish things, always pray for selfless things.
I spend approx 15-60 minutes (Quiet time) as soon as I wake up, every day (I try) so that I have the right mind set & spirit set when I start my day. During this time, I pray 1st, then I read some passages in both Old & New Testament. During my prayer, I focus on everyone's need and the spirtual guidance that I pray will be granted to my children, my wife, my friends, clients and my enemies...Then I ask for forgiveness from my sins, I ask & mediatate on strategies on how to avoid repeating my sins, I ask for wisdom and an understanding of his word. Ask to learn how to forgive every one that has sinned against you. You/he must forgive everyone...Because all of your prayers will go unanswered, if you have an unforgiving heart. Lastly, and most importantly, I thank & praise HIM for everything HE has given me and taken away. Always be thankful, for the things that you have, even during the worst times in your life.
As you can see, prayer is talking and expressing. I can be simple in it's spoken form and there are no special verbages or spells..LOL Speak from the heart, speak honestly & openly. Desire selfless things and forgive those that have wronged you and your father will become a powerful Prayer Warrior for Christ, with the ability to move mountains!!!
Congratulations, as me and the Angels in heaven are rejoicing. Good luck and God Bless you both.
There is no specific way to pray, no ritual or words that have to be followed.
pray is simply us getting connected to our lord.
Upon awakening i spend between 15-30 minutes seeking god asking that he would guide and direct me on the path he wants me to take, i ask for mind to be cleared of any wrong thinking or motives so that i may better carry his word in every thing i do and say. Remember not to ask for selfish things unless they would also be of use to others.
morning prayer is a great time to ask the lord to draw you closer to him so that you get to know him more.
Many times during the day remind yourself it is the lords will and not yours that will be done, i also find that at particularly difficult times it really helps to use the serenity prayer.
At night spend some time thanking the lord for all that he has given you, ask for growth from any dificult situations that have occured.
It may also be of help to dedicate a particular area in your home where you sit to prayer.
I wish you all the best on this journey, May god bless you, your father and all that surround you.
thx tracy and interrogatingu, im sure my dad will be able to understand more about prayer :)
Be Blessed.
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (Love), I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vauneth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seekth not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth.
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is (Love) charity.
Please read Matthew 6th chapter verses 5-8 and Luke chapter 11 verses 2-4 (Words of Jesus) that leads into the prayer that Jesus taught his disciples when they asked him to teach them how to pray.
Matthew 6th Chapter verses 9-13 (Words of Jesus) The prayer that Jesus taught his disciples.
Matthew 6:9-13 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever, Amen.
This is the prayer most christians pray, however you can also talk to God in your own words from the heart. I like to start off with the Our Father's prayer and then tell the Lord what's on my heart and mind.
Be blessed and welcome to the family of Christ.
Pslams 91 for daily protection
In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song.
Here is a simple prayer when you need direction in your life or you want to make the right choice. Glad to hear your dad was saved recently. Praise God!
"Father God, there are so many decisions I need to make and I don’t seem to know what is the best for now or for the future. There are so many directions I could go – I need you to give me the wisdom to make the right choice to head in the right direction. You said if we lack wisdom, all we need to do is ask you. I really need your wisdom into my heart today. Send down your spirit to give me counsel. I pray this in Jesus's name, Amen.
I hope this helps.
God bless!
Prayer is the opening of the heart to God as to a friend.
S~y~d, prayer is merely talking to God.
"The Beattitudes" (The Sermon on the Mount) appears in all four Gospels. In Luke, we find that Jesus had descended to the Capernaum Plain, and was still speaking.
Here, we find a number of reversals. "Blessed are the poor, for yours is the Kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be filled. Blessed are you who weep, for you shall laugh. Blessed are . . .."
Fill in the affliction, and we find that through faith, we come back all that much stronger, kinder, and better.
"Our Father Who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for Thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory. Forever. Amen."
Another prayer I find useful is:
"God grant me the strength to change the things that I can change, the patience to accept what I cannot change, and the wisdom to know the difference."
The prayer I prayed in my hour of salvation was (still is), "God be merciful to me, a sinner."
Considering the things that I did, and the reasons why I had to do them, these prayers still mean more than life to me.
Deal with it -It wont hurt!
heavenly father thank you for your salvation please help me to understand all i need to according to your will by the holy spirit and please lord god let your good and perfect will be done in my heart that is yours.in jesus name amen take care love dan
