Run your anti-virus software
. Norton, McAfee and AVG, can diagnosis and usually correct your virus infection automatically, including fixing the registry.
-
Step 2
Use Windows System Restore. If the anti-virus software fails to correct the problem, click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools, > System Restore.
-
Step 3
Click "Restore My Computer to an Earlier Time" and then click "Next."
-
Step 4
Choose a recent restore point, that was prior to your system being infected by the virus. System Restore will work its magic and reboot the computer to the previous state.
-
Step 5
Use CCleaner to clean your registry
. If all else fails, try CCleaner, a freeware registry cleaner that will keep your computer running smoothly
