My heart goes out to Barbara regarding her dental malpractice concern. I too was treated by an incompetent dentist who advertises widely and hooks people in with false promises. I am facing a lifetime of unecessary pain now---after he ruined my previously healthy, cavity-free teeth. Dentists get by with bad behavior because the system is stacked in their favor. Even if you paid hundreds of thousands to go to court and WON--attorneys inform me that then the dentist has to AGREE to let his insurance pay the victim. The dental societies have very narrow criteria for wrongdoing by dentists and most always rule in the dentists' favor or offer little relief for the victims. I would like to become active in lobbying for much needed changes to "the system" but I have had no luck in finding how to go about it, or in finding others who also have the resources or passion to address this wrong. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks! Jessie
Well said. Check with a friend next time or call the ADA for a reference.
