need some more info. Did you pay off a judgment that was clouding title on the property and now the judgment holder won't give you a "paid in full" letter and says the judgment was sold ?

If that's the case where is the evidence of the paid judgment ? Like a cancelled check, certified mail receipt showing confirmation, etc. ?

If you have proof of payment yet the debt is not settled you can slam them hard. There is a lot you can do to squash a crooked creditor that claims they were never paid.

You might have go after them but a nasty gram with proof of payment and letting them know you will take everything they own for trying to swindle and defraud you is a good start.

hope that helps.

The new holder of the paper may be reporting on your credit report. I suggest pulling your credit to see where the debt has been sold. If they are not reporting on your credit report, you can contact a credit specialty company like the one I used on my customers. It is called Crednology. Do the best you can do on your own with a credit report first. You could contact the bureaus directly as well and I believe that there are phone numbers for a couple of them online. Be sure to contact all three in case the new holder only reports to one or two of the bureaus. They are Transunion, Equifax and Experian.

You did not mention how long ago this happend. The statute of limitations for judgements is seven years. Then they can no longer report.
