How are ratings produced?

The presidential election has provided late-night television with punch lines and a ratings boost.

May we present the POPTUB Ratings Report for the week of September 29-October 5, 2008. Every Sunday night, we identify the twenty most-viewed videos of the week on YouTube as measured by YouTube for the preceding seven-day period. We then measure the viewer interaction inspired by those videos, and give additional credit to the videos that drive the most comments and responses in fact, we multiply the number of comments and responses by five and add them to the number of total views.
