Are you thinking of the movie "The Outsiders"?  In that film (and in the book), Johnny tells Ponyboy, "Stay gold."  It means to be innocent and good, as explained on Spark Notes

I have to say that after a wide search for the quote I haven't found it. Are you sure it's from this movie? I'd love to help if you have any more recollection of what's the quote is all about.  I ran into a web page that have all the famous "Godfather" quotes and haven't seen it, here it is: http://www.thegodfathertrilogy.com/godfather.html

Ever looking for info about a quote from a movie/tv go to IMDB - Internet Movie DataBase.  Right on the homepage you will see a search box, enter the text of the quote on the right.  On the left where it says All scroll down in that box and select Quotes.  This is one of my favorite sites.  Here's what they had about the quote "stay gold":  CLICK HERE

Movie: The Strangers

Does anyone know if that movie "The Strangers" is really based on actual events or are they just saying that to hype the movie?
