What you think about you bring about!!!

Some questions for devout Christians....

Concerning God; I have some questions , written by someone famous, long ago, for those of you who are devout Christians:...........

1. If He is infinitely good, what reason should we have to fear him?

2. If he is infinitely wise, why should we have doubts concerning our future?

3. If He knows all, why 'warn' Him of our needs, and fatigue him with our prayers?

4. If He is everywhere, why erect temples to Him?

AND.......you will never guess who wrote all this; the poet Shelley!!!!!! I thought they were interesting questions........whaddya'all think?

1. He is indeed infinitely good. He is an unchangeable, faithful, firm and loving Father. Fear relates closely to respect in our relationship with God. True RESPECT, wherein you know there are consequences for disobedience.... as a child that doesn't want to displease their dad because a spanking is inevitable, is a mixture of love and fear. If you try your best to follow what your Dad sets in front of you, you have no reason for fear.

2.  Doubts concerning our future are rooted in our failure to have faith in God's ability to get us through anything life puts in front of us. Our human nature and our own stubborn will make it difficult to lay all our burdens at the foot of the cross, but once we do, doubts flee like darkness before the light.

3. Again, our free will is involved. He knows what we need and He is ready to provide - if we ask.  He wants an active relationship with us - two-way. How can He answer us if we don't ask? If He just automatically provided everything, our will would be violated. He will never force Himself on us. We must choose Him.

4. Each of us is a temple of God. Churches are built for fellowship and gathering of like-hearted Christians for worship and learning.

“God’s purposes are so vast and glorious, beyond all guessing now, that when they are achieved and consummated, all our sufferings and sorrows of today, even the agonies that nearly break our faith, the disasters that well nigh overwhelm us, shall, seen from that fair country where God’s age long dreams come true, bulk as little as bulk now the pieces of a broken toy upon a nursery floor, over which, thinking that all our little world was in ruins, we cried ourselves to sleep.”

Dr. Leslie Weatherhead

Like I said before if I believed in "free will" I would right now be hopelessly lost in trespasses and sins and their consequenses because my depraved choice would be to choose and to love to live a sinful life. I'm glad I don't believe in "free will." I'm glad God laid hold on me by His grace and made Jesus choice in my heart. In due time He will do this for all fallen creatures as these online expositions prove that the Bible teaches.

Be Blessed.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (Love), I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vauneth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seekth not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is (Love) charity.

Hi Deborah,

I agree with you whole heartedly. God gives us all the will to choose. I for one know that to be a fact. When I was young, I strayed away from the church  and was living in a world of sin. It was not until I really heard the word of God and his beckoning me to come, did I really realize where I was headed and that I had a choice to make in my life. I choose to make Jesus my savior and my life began to change. Because I chose him, I wanted to do better, I wanted to change, I wanted to worship him. It was not a task but a priviledge. Everybody don't make that choice. Some people want to do better but remain in the same shape. Why? Because they choose not to hear the voice of God calling them.

Yes, it is true that God will reveal himself to the whole world, because the bible says that all eyes will see him. Every knee shall bow, and every tongue will confess, that Jesus Christ is Lord, but that doesn't mean that everyone will receive his salvation. Only the ones that choose to follow him. Because we all have free will and choice, if we reject his plan of salvation, in hell will we lift up our eyes. The fact that someone would teach universal salvation is contrary to the word of God.

Jesus did not die on the cross, just to turn around and save the universe, without giving men a choice who they will serve. It would not be fair to his children that heeded his call. If man think that he can live any kind of way that he wants, and Jesus will say, come on in my good and faithful servant, he is sadly mistaken. The bible says that hell enlarges itself everyday. God is not a man that he should lie. If he says the sinner will perish, count it done. He will not go back on his word. He did not turn his back and watch his only son die, just to turn around and say, even though you did not choose me, I will save you anyway. The devil is a liar and a deceiver of man.

As Joshua said, choose you this day who you will serve, will it be God or man? The question is, where will the unbelievers spend eternity. I know where the true believers will be.

Be Blessed.

Livin in a small, backwoods, country, Southern town that's deep in a holler is like bein in Heaven.

Universal salvation??? Even that phrase sounds illogical to me. Every Bible that I've read all say the same thing: those who refuse to accept God's gift of salvation and believe that Jesus's death on the cross and resurrection is sufficient to pay for their sins will spend eternity in Hell separated from God. It's obvious to me that anyone who believes in "universal salvation" is a fool because he/she has believed a huge lie told to them by none other than Satan himself and they need to get into a church that will show them the truth as soon as they can get there.

Thank you Tippy. I know better now what the term (Universal Salvation) means.  It was the first time I had hear it put that way, and it made sense. Man, there are some dangerous teachings out there... some so tricky and deceiving, just a wrong interpretation can so easily lead someone off in the wrong direction!

Thanks again my friend.  Smile

Alright, alright Jesusfreak.. jeewhiz!  All I thought he ment by Universal Salvation was that each and every one of us can be Saved, no one is exempt, or born doomed to hell.  Which is true right?  So what should we call this truth?

The way that I understood him to be using the term "universal salvation" from what he had to say about it was that everyone will make it to heaven and that no one will will go to Hell regardless of what we believe/don't believe or do in life. It is true that salvation is universal in that it's available to everyone who asks God/Jesus to forgive them for their sins but not available to people who refuse to accept it/ask for it/repent of their sins. God/Jesus will never force anyone to be saved. It is a choice. If a person chooses to live in sin without repenting of them...they will most certainly go to Hell.

Rodger - I went to the web site that you mentioned, and it explains a lot to me. I asked if you were a Christian, an Agnostic, an Atheist, or what. My answer is that you're a Universalist, right? Do you believe all "paths" lead to Heaven, whether they be Jesus, Buddah, or Allah?

A little test about the word "ALL" that's found in Scripture.

If Truth is changed to not be all inclusive, when the context renders that it should be it then becomes error.

Reconsider the following Scriptures, without using any preconceived thoughts or forced interpretation upon them. This may be more difficult to do than first realized, because we all resort to an immediate interpretation of something based on our past understandings of the verse.

The darkest doctrine ever devised by men was that of an "eternal suffering" for the billions of souls that die lost without Christ.
Like wolves among the sheep, carnally-minded men within the church system found it very effective to use the fear of an unending hell to control the masses that enter their religion.
Unfortunately this doctrine has remained at large in Christianity as a whole.
