This may sound strange at first but hear me out. I have a three year old 90lb Texas red nose pitbull. I know that they have a bad rep but human aqggression has to be trained into them. They can be dog aggressive but if they are socialized from puppyhood with children, other pets and people consistently, they make wonderful pets. Our dog thinks he is a chihuahua or yorkie, lol. He is VERY affectionate , lovable and loyal. He is a licker, constantly wanting to be close to you (I think its his way of "petting us back") but listens extremely well to commands, and easy to train. All they want to do is please. He actually belonged to my niece for a year but she could not keep him and asked if we would take him, and he has been the best dog we have ever had. He loves children, and plays well with even the youngest of our neighbors who is 15 mths of age. He is territorial when in his fenced in yard and truck and crate, but when not confined and doing his "job" he is very playful with everyone. His best friend is a three yr old miniature daschund. Do some research and check out these wonderful dogs. If you have room for a dog between 40 and 90lbs or so, and energy to play they make wonderful pets and guardians. He is a lover not a fighter (which also has to be taught by some stupid cruel human). I hope you consider this breed. if you choose one, I would definitely suggest aquiring a bright eyed, curious puppy from a respected breeder. Good luck!
