What kind of puppy should I buy if I want a loyal dog that likes to lick?

I love affectionate dogs and I am in the market for a new puppy.  Any suggestions? Any one have puppy pictures they could share?

Always know what you want.

First and foremost, adoption is your best option. There are way too many puppies out there that are looking for homes that would love and be loyal to you that you don't have to pay an outrageous fee to take home (just the basic vaccination costs).

I noticed you were in CA and did a search on petfinder.com and found some beautiful puppies up for adoption. You can see the search results below:

http://search.petfinder.com/search/search.cgi?breed=&tmpl=&preview=&animal=Dog&age=baby&preview=&zip=CA

You can also check out the other link I've pasted below; it has fewer available puppies for adoption but the ones they do have are absolutely adorable and would love to come home with you!

I personally have 2 chihuahuas and 1 terrier and they are unbelieveably loyal and love to play and lick. They are amazing companions and I only wish I could afford to have more live with me. I hope this helps.

Hi,

I used to have a Golden Retriever that was a charming dog. He was really faithful and I always enjoyed spending time with him. Unfortunately I don't have any digitized photos (it was quite a while ago) but he was very cute.

Take a look:

It has been my experience that most strays will love you to bits if you're kind to them, and that despite common beliefs, no two dogs even of the same breed are alike. You can find really friendly Rotweilers, and you can find some that will happily chew you up.

I agree with getting a dog from a shelter.  There are wonderful dogs there.   I'd go for something with some lab or golden retriever in it.  They are absolutely great dogs.

I would have to agree with several that have answered the question there are so many loveable animals in shelters that all they want is to have a good home!! I just recently went and picked out a dog from the shelter well she picked me out and she is the most loyal one i have (laborador retriever). Good Luck

I must say it all depends on if you are a boy or girl. The reason I say that is because, I have a yorkshire terrier that is wonderful, loyal and very playful.Always full of energy. My husband thinks its a dog for a female. However, his name is Mr.Nelson and my cousin husband keeps up with him more than I do. They are expensive, but I read several books about this dog and if you check you will see why I chose the Yorkie.

If you have the space, Great Danes are the best, smartest, and most loveable, and appreciative dogs I have ever had. They believe they are lap dogs, even if their taller then you.
