Is there a method to dry an entire pumpkin like a ...

Is there a method to dry an entire pumpkin like a gourd bird house?  My 5 year old  has become extremely attached to it!  is is 4+months old, at this point still completely sound! thats a shock in the first place.  it was never carved.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
