How can i overcome lack of continuity(perseverance ...

How can i overcome lack of continuity(perseverance) habit? My age is 32 (Male). Doing a job, married. After starting a work (any work, e.g. exercise, reading a book, practicing any skill, try to give up a bad habit etc.) I continue for few days, and then leave it half done. As perseverance (continuity) is the key to success, I badly need help to overcome. I'm suffering from very young age (I?m sure, I could have been better in study & can do better in job). I took treatment from psychiatrist for more then 2 years. I also told about some other problems ( poor memory, laziness, lack of patience, low self-confidence etc.). But the main was lack of continuity (perseverance). He prescribed me some antidepressant drugs, which I took for more then 2 years. Those helped me to minimize depression (as long as I have medicines). These were not permanent solution (as I think these r symptoms only, lack of perseverance is the root cause). Until the root cause is treated these will remain. Would you please help me in any way? I badly need help. If any other information is required, pls ask me.

Has anyone ever suggested that you might have adult ADD? You certainly present with the symptoms of the disorder. Never following through with tasks or projects, and the lack of patience are two of the outstanding signs of adult ADD. I think you would be wise to find another therapist who's qualified in dealing with this disorder and at least get another opinion, as you may have been on the wrong medication for the last several years. It's quite posible if put on the correct meds you could see an improvement in your over all mental health and well being. It might very well be that anti-depressants aren't the answer for you. Poor memory and lack of confidence, along with alcohol and substance abuse are a few more of the symptoms related to adult ADD. The laziness could be from the anti-depressants causing fatigue, they suppress the central nerveous system, and can cause great fatigue in some people. If things have not improved to this date, you really should see another doctor. Good luck and I hope you get some relief soon.
